Developing Scientists for the Future

School Vision

I alone know the plans I have for you; plans for the future you hope for. Jeremiah 29:11

We seek to transform the lives of our community within a Christian environment, nurturing the wellbeing of all, promoting the highest academic achievement and instilling a lifelong love of learning.

God’s plans for us are limitless. He knows us best and plans for us to reach our unique and individual potential, shaped in the palm of His hand. This potential may reveal itself when we least expect it, just like God’s love being revealed to us. We believe that we are shaping lives, not just in the present, but also for the future – enabling them to be global citizens in God’s rapidly changing world; celebrating life in all its fullness.

Intent

At Christ Church, science inspires curiosity about the world God has created, fostering awe and wonder. Guided by “I alone know the plans I have for you…” (Jeremiah 29:11), we believe every child can grow and succeed as a young scientist.

Our science curriculum, delivered through the White Rose Science scheme, is carefully sequenced to build knowledge and skills progressively. It ignites curiosity and supports pupils in exploring, experimenting and understanding the world through scientific enquiry, in line with the National Curriculum.

Through engaging, practical lessons, our children:

  • Ask questions and share ideas
  • Learn through hands-on experiences
  • Work collaboratively and communicate their thinking, orally and in writing
  • Apply their skills to real-world contexts
  • Present their findings in a variety of ways

We aim to develop:

  • Scientific understanding, from early observations in EYFS to deeper exploration of concepts in Key Stages 1 and 2
  • Awareness of sustainability, encouraging children to care for God’s world through learning about habitats, materials and environmental change
  • An inclusive view of science, introducing diverse scientists so children see that science is for everyone

Enrichment opportunities, including British Science Week, further promote curiosity and provide memorable, hands-on experiences that bring science to life.
